Denean

I recently celebrated my 55th year on this planet (03-16-54) and presently reside in Taos, New Mexico.  I’ve been here on and off since 1993, but I must say, the Northwest is calling!

Most people know me through my music as a recording artist.  After leaving a record label I had been with for several years, I formed my own company in 1998 (Woo Way Productions, Inc) and went on to win the 2000 New Mexico “MIC” Award for “Best Producer”.  After some time, I changed my company name to Woo Way Intuitive Healing Arts as my work began to expand into areas of intuitive consulting and teaching and intuitive energy healing.

Upon my return to Taos is 2002, I expanded my technology skills, teaching myself audio engineering.  That spilled over into building my website and all the behind the scenes technology that comes with that.  Honestly, I never meant to become a computer geek!

Spiritually, music has always been a focal point of my path.  I began playing when I was three and playing  and singing in church when I was nine years old.  After a ten year stint on the Nashville scene in the 80’s, some critical life/death challenges turned me to the question of “Why am I here on this planet and what am I really meant to do?”  This was the pivotal moment where my path with music for the soul and for healing began.  It was also the doorway of reconnection to my native roots.

After moving to Colorado in 1991, I attended my first Sun Dance at Hollow Horn Bear some time after that.  I fell in love with the music. The Lakota ways of ceremony and ritual stir something deep in my soul.  It has been a most important aspect of my life and has found expression in my musical creative process over the years.  In my experience of sun dancing, I came to the realization that my dance is about celebrating life (rather than suffering) and my heart has joy that I came to understand that.   I am honored to be a board member of the High Star Sun Eagle International Foundation for Peace and to be able to serve in this way.
